Serious risks

• Crankshaft pulley failure: Crankshaft vibration damper/pulley can fail, causing serpentine belt to come off. Common on early production.
• Inlet manifold cracking: Plastic inlet manifold can crack, causing boost leaks and limp mode.
• DPF issues (short trips): DPF clogs easily with short city trips. Forced regen or replacement needed.
• Timing chain tensioner: Chain tensioner on early units can fail. Listen for rattle on cold start.
• Car is 13 years old — expect age-related wear: rubber seals, bushings, water pump, AC compressor
• Higher mileage (175,783 km) — check for timing system condition, turbo health, and suspension wear

Additional notes

• Land Rover Ingenium 2.0 diesel with 60k+ km — check DPF health. These engines are VERY prone to DPF clogging with city driving. Also check for crankshaft pulley failure (early models) and inlet manifold cracking. Land Rover repair costs are 30-50% higher than mainstream brands.
• Jaguar/Land Rover Ingenium 2.0 diesel with 100k+ km: two main concerns: (1) DPF regeneration problems, especially with short journeys. DPF replacement costs €1,500-3,000. (2) Timing chain tensioner wear can cause rattle on startup. Chain replacement €1,000-2,000. Also check for crankshaft damper failure (vibration, belt noise) and coolant leaks from water pump. These engines are decent when maintained but expensive to repair at JLR dealer rates.
• Diesel car from before 2018 with very low mileage suggests city-only use — DPF is likely clogged or has been removed (illegal). Check DPF status and EGR condition.
• Range Rover Sport diesels are extremely popular in Bulgaria (458+ listings, avg 150k km). After 120k km these develop expensive air suspension failures (€2000-5000 per corner), Ingenium/TDV6 timing chain stretch, DPF issues, and electrical gremlins. Average price €33k hides €5-10k annual maintenance.
